DBA Drivers Education Practice Exam

When making a right turn, the first step is to reduce speed and stay as far to the right as possible. This action is vital for several reasons. First, reducing speed allows for better control of the vehicle and helps ensure that you can safely execute the turn without endangering yourself or others. It prepares you to navigate the turn while also being aware of your surroundings.

Staying as far to the right as possible is important because it positions your vehicle in the correct lane for a right turn. This positioning helps avoid potential conflicts with other vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists who may be moving in the area. By being cautious and mindful of your lane positioning, you enhance safety for everyone involved, making the turn smoother and more efficient.

While signaling, checking blind spots, and yielding to oncoming traffic are also crucial steps in the process of executing a right turn, they follow after ensuring that you are appropriately positioned and at a safe speed. Therefore, reducing speed and aligning to the right is the foundational step that instills safety and readiness for the subsequent actions involved in making a turn.
